He likes me, He likes me not?

There is a guy in school with me and he told a friend of mine that he likes me. A few days ago, in the beginning of cl when it was just us in the room he came over and talked to me. Then everyday after that he would smile at me and say hi and wave. Today he was talking to some guys at his table and I walked by and all of them looked at me and a few smirked and then whispered to the guy. Then a few minutes later one of the guys called my name and said that they guy wanted my phone number. He freaked out and put his head on his desk when I looked at him. Before I could say anything the guy who talked to me got angry at the other guy for pretending that he didn't ask him to do that. Then when I walked by him in the hallway later he side glanced at me and then sped off. What is up with him? Does he like me or not? Is he embarred?
