Someone wants me to teach wicca to them?

Someone wants me to teach them about wicca, they did not realize i was wiccan at first and they said they were interested (I am still in broom closet) in learning. the problem is i dont know if this kid is being serious about learning this path or not, so i sent him on his way with a couple of beginners books and not much else, did i do the right thing? 4 years of experience and very in tune with wicca...
