Why this hypocrisy from the spiteful and vengeful?

Recently my step mother believed I had done something against her and retaliated behind my back. It has since come out that I am innocent however I have lost from her retaliation. When I told her the damage she did she just said "Get over it" and my Dad backed her up. This is not the first time someone has done something like this to me. They always retaliate thinking I'm guilty, then when the truth comes out they tell me to 'just get over it'. Why? Isn't it hypocritical for those who are always 'getting even' to tell their victims to 'get over it'? What is the source of this hypocrisy? I want to understand.
