Any suggestions on what to paint a living room wall that has a red wall to wall carpeting?

the carpet is not actually red in color but sort of in the burgundy/marroon hue.I'm thinking of a white couch with splashes of red accents here and there but i don't know what color to paint the walls.definitely not white because then it would be too boring..i mean white couch,red carpet,white walls,boring...
