Do things always get better after the overthrow of a dictator ?

I live in Egypt, and as all people know, there are protests demanding Mubarak to leave, but some people are against these protests because they fear that things might even get worse if the dictator leaves, and it's better this way, I want to know if this has ever happened, were things got worse after the overthrow of a dictator.
