Recurring dream?

Alright, so about a year ago I narrowly avoided being in a hostage situation because I slept through my alarm. About a month ago, I started to have these recurring dreams. It's always in a school, sometimes one I've been in, sometimes a hybrid of ones I've been in, and rarely, one I've never seen before. I'm being chased by someone I can't see, before I'm shot with a gun several times, and a voice says, in varying forms, "You should have died a year ago. I'm here to finish the job." I've had this dream every other night, does it mean something or is it just my subconscious at work?
